We celebrate the day as a time of love, passion, life. Its symbol, the maypole, means everything Freud thinks it does, and then some.
As always, Mrs. Mungo and I will host a bonfire the first Saturday night in May, which falls on May 7 this year. We hope to see you there. It starts at 8 p.m.
We trust you know where "there" is. We like to maintain a wee bit of secrecy, of course. Some folks just don't understand our heathen ways.
If you've been to our Beltanes before, you know they're a little more humble than our Samhains. There's no greenman to sacrifice, for one thing. And we'll be relying on our guests for food and drink. So please bring enough eatables and drinkables to share.
There will be a bonfire, of course, and we'll play and sing and catch up on how our little straw men have been treating us over the past six months.
It's an outdoor event so dress for the weather. Bring a musical instrument. Bring fireworks. Bring food and drink. Bring life and love.
