Happy fall! Our Samhain invitations go out with the slanting rays of the sun.
We don't know who drew this, but we got hooked on the design and just had to use it for our invitation. She or he has created a twisting world of soulless snakes and dragons that brilliantly combines the knottish complexity of Celtic art with the simple, clean lines of the Anglo-Saxons. It takes us right back to the misty moors and blasted oaks of ancient times. You know, back when Mungo and the Missus were young pups.
There's no address on the invitation. You surely know the humble site where this all takes place. It's been at the same spot for 20 years, and this bonfire will mark the 21st. But if you're new to this whole bonfire thing, email us at samhainfire@live.com for more information.
It's an outdoors event, as bonfires often are. Dress for the weather. But also dress for fun. We love costumes. No costume? Don't let that stop you. Please come anyway.
Some people will show up at 8 on the dot and others will show up a little later. Because of a special little thing we do, we hope everyone can be here by 9:30 p.m. at the latest. (If you've been here before, you know what we're talking about. Shh! Don't tell the first-timers!)
We ask that you bring your own bottle but we don't care what's in it. Mainly we just want you to bring yourself and an appetite for good food and foolery.
See you on Saturday, October 27!
