Our Beltane bonfire is a little more than a week away. Not much notice, we
admit. But you can always count on two things:
- Even if you don’t get an invitation, there will be a bonfire on the night of the first Saturday in May.
- Even if you don’t get an invitation, we hope you come.
The bonfire takes place Saturday, May 3, at the traditional celebration site. As we've mentioned coyly before, this site is nestled in the hills of the tri-state area of New England, should anyone be curious.
We like costumes for Beltane. Why should Halloween have all the fun? They aren't mandatory but even if you don’t wear a costume, feel free to express yourself. No wardrobe is too outlandish. Put yourself on display like a flower in bloom.
One caveat on how you dress: This is an outdoor celebration, rain or shine or snow. Our sheltered accommodations are limited to an open building and one or two tents. Please consider the weather in your evening plans.
Beltane is our potluck celebration. We ask attendees to bring a dish or a
snack or a favor or a beverage that they can share with everyone. This gives
Mrs. Mungo a break with the food preparation. In exchange, she works her magic in the
kitchen for our Samhain bonfire six months from now.
Music, dance, merriment, and dalliance are all very welcome. Bring anything (instruments, inebriants, aphrodisiacs, etc.) that helps you with these things except, of course, children or pets. Sorry,
kids. Sorry, animals.
