Do not go gentle into that good night
Continuing our rage against the dying of the light, we are pleased to announce plans for the 24th Samhain Fire.
Same time, same place, of course. It's always the last Saturday of October, and this year that means the actual holiday, October 31.
It's adults only. Our apologies to those with children and others who find the date inconvenient. If you are unable to attend but would like to take part in the sacrifice "in spirit," let us know your choice of color (see Colors of the Day) and we'll make sure an appropriately beaded strawman makes its way into the fire just for you.
There's been a drought here for a while, and we hope it won't have an impact on the bonfire. So far the fall has been wet enough to permit outdoor burning. With any luck it will stay that way.
The drought has not been so kind to local pumpkin farmers. This year we were unable to pick up the usual crop of seconds and rejects from the pumpkin harvest. Please bring your own pumpkin if you'd like to take part in the slaying and, again, accept our apologies.
Mrs. Mungo will be practicing her munchy magic, of course. There will be treats for every corporeal taste. As far as what the spirit may crave, feel free to bring what you like.
Costumes of any sort are encouraged. It's an outdoors event, so dress for the weather. Bring a friend (adult humans only, please), a musical instrument, something you'd like to throw in the fire—the usual stuff you'd take to a gathering of savage heathens.
