The Next 25

Mungo and the Mrs. celebrated our first 25 Samhain fires last year. We hope you'll be with us on Saturday, October 28, as we start celebrating the next 25.

It's the last Saturday night in October, and the half moon hangs in the west until midnight. It's waxing. It will be a full Beaver Moon in a week.

As you might expect, our bonfire is an outdoor event. Please wear a costume if you'd like, but also keep in mind things like rain, cold, and billowing smoke.

Please don't show up before 8. We are way too busy before then and really can't guarantee we'll even be human.

You will want to be here at least by 9:30, though. That's when the central event, the ritual of the Samhain bonfire, starts. Don't worry, we don't do the skyclad thing. And we'll give the faint of heart a chance to leave before it gets too wild.

Also, there's always the threat of an attack by pumpkins, so you're invited to bring a stabbing, slicing, or chopping weapon of choice to the Slaughter of the Gourds. You can also choose from several blades on the premises.

But the best reason to stick around from beginning to end is Mrs. Mungo's tables of treats baked, broiled, whipped and chilled, all made with genuine magic.

Now, no doubt children and pets are adorable additions to any bacchanalia, but don't bring them to this fire. Not even going to say please. This celebration is strictly for adult humans for reasons that are obvious to anyone who's been to previous fires.

If you know the true ID of Mungo and the Mrs., you know what this is all about. If you've been here before and felt welcome, you'll always feel welcome. If we forgot to remind you that we invited you, or if you'd like to get invited, or you don't know who we are or where we are, shoot us an email at samhainfire@live.com.

Hope to see you under the next half moon!
